If you have a passion for sharing the journey of people with developmental disabilities then working directly for the individual with the guidance of their families can be a great opportunity for you. This is also called Family Managed Supports.

Working directly with family eliminates the red tape of larger collectives. This gives you the advantage of having access to the plan that is tailored to the unique needs and goals of the person you will support. This means that each day is different, with lots of opportunity to discover and grow. The best part is that yours and the family's shared vision for a good life will create a clear path to inclusion.

• Have common sense and has a sense of joy
• Have a good sense of self and interpersonal skills
• Able to support increasing independence
• Have the courage to take a stand on behalf of the person you support
• Are connected and active in the community and or are willing to explore that community
• Have a good understanding of authentic relationships
